AJ VALENTE has unique knowledge of 19th century papers. Originating from San Francisco, he has a BS in engineering, and has researched 19th century paper science and manufacturing for over fifteen years. As a conservation engineer he is cognizant of the latest restoration techniques, and has performed unique research in the field of paper identification--the key to restoration. More than simply artistic renovation, AJ "engineers" the recovery process for every item in his care

As a nationally-known author and conservator, AJ has managed to create an environment that fulfills who he is, and provides exceptional service to the New England community. Researching the latest techniques and methods at Dartmouth College, NH., he proclaims in his own words, “To know your papers, is to love them."

There are many philatelic rarities in need of "exhibition-quality" conservation. Here, AJ has unique insight being both a published author and an exhibitor (on "The Postal History of Paper-Making"). Still, it's not enough to simply guarantee satisfaction. As a professional conservator serving the needs of the philatelic community, one must provide a level of service that meets the highest standards of expertization and certification. In this regard, philatelic conservation is on the cutting edge--well into  the realm of engineering and science.
